RS Aero UK Spring Championship - Island Barn Reservoir SC, Surrey, UK, 20th April
Thanks to our Race Officer, Mike Jones, for his excellent report;
What a pleasure and challenge it is to officiate RS Aero meetings. Pleasurable, because they are a very happy bunch of sailors, they are very good, and more importantly they all start both competitively and all just behind the line. A challenge, because it’s really 3 Opens in one; on two different courses; and three starts with a short, three minute count down for each.....

Thanks to those who've already enterred - the forecast is still looking great. It would really help us plan food etc if you could enter via the web (and it's cheaper than doing it on the day). Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Can we get enough entries for fleet racing in all rigs?

Thanks Gareth,
It does look like it is working now as I have just entered and paid.
A real benefit of the RS Aero is that we don't need to be forecast dependent.
With the option and flexibility of a couple of rig sizes, that can be so easily transported, we can have enjoyable racing in anything from 3kn to 30kn. That benefits participation, enjoyment and safety.
Island Barn Reservoir also offers a clear breeze in light winds by being elevated and an enclosed flat water location for excellent fun and good safe racing in a gale.
Looking forward to it!Reply 10/04/2024 19:39:00

If you tried to enter and hung at the payment stage the problem should now be fixed. I know lots of you will probably want to wait for the forecast before committing. Of course it might all change but now (Wed 10th) the BBC weather is showing sunny intervals and light winds.
It really helps us if we know rough numbers by this weekend.

I hear some people have been having issues with the online entry - it worked for me but I know some have had issues. If you have a problem please email me to lock in the early entry. Generally the ebntry is there you just weren't able to pay. We are looking into htis but frustratingly it works some of the time.

Gosh it's only two weeks away! The reservoir is full. The club's had its spring clean. We plan a similar format to last year, 4 races, two morning, two afternoon but as always we'll be guided a bit by the weather on the day. We are hoping to run fleet based racing but again we'll revist if numbers in a fleet are too low.
Entry rates will go up after Thursday 18th (£21 to £25) but we will accept on the day late entries. The earlier you enter the better we can plan the day.
Online entries should be open - please email me if any issues. NOR with link to entry is available on the club web site. https://www.islandbarn.org.uk
