Had mine looked at by a sail maker for the same problem, he said that sail repair fabric would work as a quick fix, and it’s what RS recommended I did however the person I took it too suggested that it should be properly repaired, it’s quite a cheep fix and a lot more economic than having to buy another batten again.
Also going to file all the sharp edges off all my other battens as thats definetly what’s causing this problem and not purely the fact that there’s that much tension going through them, taping the end of them will probably help too. Reply 06/06/2020 13:39:00

The lower batten has punched through the leech end of the batten pocket. Probably helped by sailing in the heavy winter storms! Does anyone have recommendations how to fix this? I don't have access to a sailmaker, and I guess standard patches won't last long in this location with batten tension.
Thanks
