Hi Charlie,
Presuming the stitching is intact, you need to check the battens engage the elastic at the inboard end, so that they don't escape around the stitching at the outboard end. I suspect that is what might have happened.

Hi, has there even been a history of battens falling out of sails?
I seem to have lost my bottom batten from my 7 sail so I'm just trying to work out how it could have happened and things I could do in the future to avoid this happening again. any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Charlie
