I use a much longer elastic which I take all the way back under the traveller, round under the toe strap and back under the traveller other side then to plate so it comes to the plate from behind and the elastic in front is always flat on the deck.

The purpose of course is to keep the daggerboard from floating away on a capsize, but it's tight so it never does. Reply 05/06/2016 11:21:36

Hi
I am new at sailing and recently purchased an Aero. I am having a problem with the daggerboard elastic and hook. Whenever I hook it to the daggerboard (rope) handle and push the board all the way down the tense elastic cord becomes in the way of the kicker line and the cleat.. any advice? and what is the purpose of the cord?
Thank you
