Deck ring gelcoat bulge

Thanks for the advice Peter.  yes, no loosness in the deck ring just the buldge and the hull is still water tight,  A small dribble when I lifted the hull vertical after six months sailing.

If there is no issue with looseness of the deck ring, and the hull is watertight, then it is tempting to do nothing until it becomes a problem, which it might not do. Otherwise your option 1 might be your best course.
I don't think your option 2 is a possibility as the retro-fit rings are for the early boats that did not have the black deck collars when new. They will not fit the later boats which were supplied with deck collars from new as the deck mold was altered to accommodate that

Hi, 

Looking for advice on likely cause and remedy for a bulge that's appeared aft of the deck-ring on my 2017 Aero.  There is no issue with looseness of the deck ring, and the hull is watertight (see photos). Should I :
  1.  Chip out and fill and gel coat 
  2. Replace the deck ring with a retro-fit deck ring to provide a greater area to absorb the mast bending forces
