Steve Cockerill of Rooster is a guru of single-handed sailing, excelling in many Classes and our RS Aero 7 World Champion in 2017. During our sailing restrictions Steve has been releasing a video chapter a week from his 'The Boat Whisperer' series which provides important thought provoking concepts and is a vital resource for any aspiring sailor.

Let’s set the scene: We’ve witnessed our club sailor ‘hero’ Lawrence sailing in big airs, from the outside looking like a great sailor, but once we step inside the boat we start to understand what the rudder is really doing (clue: not just steering the boat)
- Your heel can help or hinder your rudder.
- An ease of the sail can reduce the use of rudder
- Initiate a turn with sail trim and heel, then rudder
