Thanks Sam. Sorry but this does not comply with the Class Rules. See CR C.6.1.3 (m) which makes it clear that only shockcord can be used. The rope/dynema shoudl be removed. The new version of this section of the CR (awaiting publication by WS) will clarify certain points but not change the answer to your question.
Hi David. Thanks for your input. The strop is made of dyneema, but I guess it could be made from any coreless material that you can brummel splice. Its has an eye spliced in one end and eye the other that when pulled tight pulls snug around the shock cord. Just pull the whole thing through the fixed eye end around the boom forward of the aft main sheet block. The other just snugs onto a shock cord loop from the outhaul behind the knot that joins the loop. Please see a more detailed image of the strop. Pretty simple and tidy I think, but I guess so is just putting it on with a hook instead. It's just doing this with material I have at had is easier than sourcing a suitable hook. Cheers, Sam.
Hi, I just have a query as to how I have my outhaul shock cord attached. I believe this is specific in regards to Rule C.6.1.3 (d). Is how I have it attached allowable? See attached image. Sorry if its hard to see in the image. Basically there is a strop that wraps around the boom in front of the aft mainsheet block (like where the existing ones attach with a plastic hook) The end of the strop is fasioned the same as the loop end of a soft shackle that bites around the shockcord next to the knot in the shock cord that goes throught the outhaul hardeye (like the existing setups do).
