Hi William
Ultimately its your boat and you can do whatever you wish to it but RS advise not to try what you are suggesting.
The sail will fit and hoist but will load the plastic track in an inappropriate manner at the head. The sail may pull out off the track and distort it. If it does pull out there is a strong chance the bolt rope will do so the entire length of the track. If you are on the water in a strong breeze, this could be quite distressing.
As far as racing with this configuration the answer will be a definite no.
On a personal note I would say don’t risk it. If you are after a lower section contact your local dealer. They will have access to new parts and maybe used one from their Demo fleet. I know RS UK has some as I was sorting them out the other day.
Hope this helps

Hello, I take delivery of my RS Aero 9 on Saturday. As a newby can anyone advise me if one can mount a 7 sail on a 9 rig? I am 85kg so perhaps the 9 is fine for coastal waters.
Many thanks in advance,
