Any advice on how to effectively and efficiently do penalty turns upwind in heavy air (ex. after touching a mark or a port/starboard)? I find that bearing away normally makes the boat accelerate like hell, making you lose a lot of distance to windward and go in a fairly big circle (problematic with other boats nearby).
