Downwind Positioning

In light wind I'm kneeling alongside (straddling) the dagger board.

The general wisdom is bum perched on inside edge of cockpit, front knee on non-slip up by the daggerboard and back knee on cockpit floor...very much Laser-stylee.

In light/medium winds I'm on my knees so I must be doing it wrong. Unless there is enough puff it is not stable enough to sit on the side, so the only other place is up by the dagger-board.
Is this recommended?
