You won't plane upwind, but reaching is fabulous. The 9 obviously starts sooner.

I'm about 72 Kg and sail 7/9 mix. In the winter generally stick to the 7 but in lighter summer wethaer the 9 is great./ Changeover is somewhere in the 10-15 kt range for our weight. 15-20 kt is perfectly sailable in the 9 but very hard work and slower upwind. Above that the 7 is actually faster.

Tono,
hi, my name is James and I am new to the class this winter. I sail an 800 as well so know what you mean about the planing feeling. I haven't got the boat planing upwind, however the boat picks up really nicely downwind/ reaching. The boat planes in 10-15 knots wind happily. I am 83 Kilo's and except in the really light stuff the 7 will do you well. ( in my experience) . Buy one they are great!

You can change the bottom mast in about 2 mins!

Hello,
I'm thinking to buy an Aero
I'm sailing with an A-Class catamaran in Barcelona, but i'm looking for the magical feeling to plan over the water
How much wind speed do you need for planning in calm water conditions?
Do you  only plan downwind??
my weight is 74 kg, do i have to buy the 9 or the 7 or both? In this case, does it take a long time to change the mast and all the staff??
Thanks for your help
