As Paul says, getting the rubber base of the uj in place can be tricky. As with the laser I had previously, it is wise to tape the cap down with some PVC tape once you have got it all together. job done.

Thanks Paul, will definitely pay closer attention to it and make sure it is secure next time. Sure is frustrating to have wind and no extension! Also, need to learn to not kneel on the bottom of the deck. My knees are rather bloody. :)

One of the members of our Palm Beach fleet lost two tiller extensions in one weekend. They are a bit tricky to install and to secure. You may think it is completely in place with the cap snapped down but if fact it not secured. Also, the rubber base only goes in one way and sometimes needs to be trimmed. Put it together and then play with it onshore, testing all movements and you should be ready to go.

I wanted to say hi - just registered my new Aero 7 (1638) and went for my first sail. It was, of course, blowing a gusty 10-20 knots. Perfect initiation. I come from many years of windsurfing, and a very old and slow sunfish. I feel only marginally prepared to hold a tiller extension in one hand, sheet in the other, toes curled under the strap, rig humming... only for the gust to die and drop me into the drink. Fun times! One problem - I've lost my tiller extension already. I have no idea how that happened, but it is likely at the bottom of the lake. Less fun. Can't sail without it. -Jeff
