Getting a fleet at Kieler Woche has been an objective of mine as long as the RS Aero has existed, and I've been in touch with the organisers a few times in the past to discuss the options.
KiWo wants relatively large numbers to make it happen, which needs both a lot of international class support, and a bit more development within the German Class. Internationally, Peter's announcement is a step in the right direction-- getting the European RS Sailors to Germany in 2026 will hopefully be a nice warmup to a potential KiWo in the future, as our past events in Travemünde have always been exceptional. As for the local development, we are working on ways to keep the ball rolling and keep growing!

In 2026 the four yearly RS Games are planned for Travemunde Woche in Germany, after it has been held previously in Weymouth UK in 2011, 2018, 2022. It is planned to hold the 'RS Aero European and Youth World Championship' there alongside the other RS Classes, with the 'Youth Worlds' held within the main Europeans event.
Travemunde Woche is like Kiel Woche, but with more focus on festivities and a fun regatta, as well as competitive racing. Regarding Kiel Woche specifically, I suggest you contact the German Class at [email protected], maybe they might seek an invite for one of their RS Aero Class German Championships.
