ROADFORD ROCKET - Report and Results What a great weekend! A productive meeting at Royal Torbay Yact Club, on Saturday afternoon, finalising detail on our Nationals. Then a quick whizz across Dartmoor to my Inn for the night, narrowly side stepping a self induced beer accident!
The Roadford Rocket, sponsored by Exe Sails and in support of The Calvert Trust, was fantastic; a great breeze, blue skies and lovely country scenery. We might need an event there next year?

The Rocket Pursuit Race is also Round 8 of the 9 event RS Aero UK Winter Series so we hope to tempt a few visiting RS Aeros down to the South West together with any of those in the SouthWest hoping to complete a series (only 3 events required and 2 still to go!).The event is also Round 2 of the 3 event SouthWest Series, which includes Starcross and Wimbleball.
Our local RS Aero and Club Secretary at Roadford, Richard Willows, is PRO for the day and has very kindly offered up his boat for loan (all rigs available!). Contact Richard to book it on; [email protected]
The event was re-established recently and is already well attended with about 60 entries last year largely from boats of similar pace to the RS Aero, which should help will make for a good race.
For those outside the SW - the possibility of a big day out into Devon at the picturesque Roadford Lake just north off the A30. Why not bring the family and make a weekend getaway of it with beaches, moors, beautiful villages and lovely pubs too!
...and now that this event is 28th Feb, we have the 29th as a bonus day to recover, being a leap year!

Round 8 of the RS Aero UK Winter Series
The event shall be a fundraising event with proceeds going to the Calvert Trust for disabled sailing in North Devon.
A big day out into Devon at the picturesque Roadford Lake just north off the A30.
Why not bring the family and make a weekend getaway of it with beaches, moors, beautiful villages and lovely pubs too!
