Paignton SC RS Aero Training & Open - Torbay, Devon, UK, 8th Aug
13 RS Aeros enjoyed a breezy weekend on Torbay from Paignton SC with a day's coaching from George Cousins on the Saturday followed by an Open Meeting on the Sunday.
George prepped the fleet with several starting, technique and speed drills on Saturday and the fleet then put the lessons learnt from George into practice on the Sunday. The racing was tight and competitive, serving as an excellent warm up for the RS Aero UK Nationals coming up which now have 140 RS Aeros entered!
It is always nice to see new faces in the fleet in addition to the regulars and this time it was the new kids who stepped up to the top of the score board. Hamish Walker (Royal Navy SA) topped the large local fleet of RS Aero 5s from Mark Ripley (Paignton SC) in 2nd and Luca Mitchell (Paignton SC) in 3rd. In the RS Aeros 7s a close tussle at the front saw Ben Flower (Paignton SC) edge the win from Greg Bartlett (Starcross YC) with UK Class Chairman Richard Watsham (Starcross YC) taking 3rd.

Entry Fee: £20. Sign up in advance, pay on the day
Saturday Training - 7th Aug
If you would like to make a weekend of it, Paignton SC are running a Saturday coaching day with experienced RS Aero coach, George Cousins, on the Saturday 7th August. Spaces are limited to just 12 sailors for the training and cost is £20 each for the training day too. The link to sign up for the training is also on the linked entry page
2022 RS Aero UK National Championships
With the building fleet locally and in the southwest we look forward to visiting Paignton SC for our 2022 RS Aero UK National Championships from 28-31st May, SAVE THE DATE!
Torbay is one of the UK's premier Championship venues with a fantastic sailing area on the English Riviera which we enjoyed for our 2nd UK Champs in 2016 from RTYC. The early UK Champs date in 2022 will provide an excellent build up to the RS Aero World Championships in the USA a month later and the RS Games in Weymouth in August.
