The Swiss Open & Nazionale Italiano #4
Great to see 32 RS Aeros representing 4 counties entries signed up for the 3rd Lago Maggiore International RS Aero Regatta where this year the RS Aeros are joined by the Open Skiffs. Even with limitiations on travel currently the support of the Italian, Swiss and German fleets that have continued to build over this past year has enabled this wonderful relaxed regatta at a beautiful venue to continue to flourish.
This week on Tuesday and Wednesday training is arranged by the German Class. On Thursday there is training and short races for all competitors. The regatta is then held over 3 days from Friday-Sunday with racing enjoying the best of the morning and afternoon breezes as they funnel through the narrows at Canobbio.
The Entry List is visible on two lists; International and Italian.

Thanks to Ulli Sheu, our local event organiser, for helping with the info;
15 Italian regions are on the list to have covid restrictions eased to 'yellow' categorisation as from Monday 26th April. These include Lombardy and Veneto, that host our major Italian events this year, the International Regatta at Maccagno on Lake Maggiore and the World Championship at Malcesine on Lake Garda.
For European countries attending national sporting competitions in Italy a covid test within 48 hours of border entry is enough and you do not need 5 day quarantine on entering Italy. I understand that from May a double vaccination is enough, instead of the pre-test (TBC). Going back into Switzerland, residency or transit, there aren't any restrictions any more. Restaurants and Bars in Italy will now be able to serve people at outdoor tables!
This provides a positive step in the progressive easing of restrictions towards achieving successful events for both local sailors and international visitors. We can hope for more information and the further easing of restrictions over the next few weeks.
Naturally sailors need to consider any further limitations from their home country or any transit countries.

There on your right you click on List of regions (List C covers Europe, List D includes AUS,NZL, JPN. Unlisted confirmed individually, but with vaccinations we can expect a positive outcome).
On the bottom of those pages you have Exemptions for entries for national sporting competitions. It confirms that a test is now enough, and you do not need 5 day quarantine on entering Italy. You need to be a member of your national sailing association and be able to show your entry to the event. I understand that from May a double vaccination is enough, instead of the pre-test (TBC).

Finally we can confirm that everything is ready for our RS Aero regatta in Maccagno.
On the UVM website you can find the Notice of Race, accommodation, etc. and we have already a few entries from 4 countries!

The new season approaches and we look forward to returning to Lago Maggiore for another RS Aero International Regatta at Maccagno, a joint Italian/Swiss venture. To add an extra day at the wonderful Italian great lake the format is extended for 2021 with 3 days racing from Friday to Sunday, plus a fun pre-event training day on the Thursday included.
The Italian sailing authority, FIV, have recently approved the Lago Maggiore International RS Aero Regatta. International visitors will each have to check any particular restrictions that may be in place on international travel to Italy at that time.
