RACE BRIEFING - The race Briefing is now posted online and can be found, together with the Notice of Race and Salcombe YC's standard open meeting Sailing Instructions, HERE
New racers at Salcombe please take note of the Fairway restriction in the briefing!
FORMAT - All RS Aeros shall race and be scored together as one fleet using RYA PYs and shall include the prototype RS Aero 6 using a Class recommended PY number of 1097

DINNER - On Saturday night are able to dine at the Salcombe Yacht Club which will be lovely.

ACCOMMODATION - is in short supply in Salcombe and TeamLymo are booked to camp/van at http://www.higherrew.co.uk/ which is great value. We are taking bikes for our evening raids into town. Anybody joining us there?
RS AERO 6 - As agreed at the UK AGM in Eastbourne, we will resume test sails of the RS Aero 6 for the next couple of months and collate feedback. This RS Aero event is to be scored on PY so is a perfect opportunity to try the RS Aero 6 out within the racing. Please let me know if you might like to borrow one.

A nice fleet is forming for the RS Aero South Westerns at Salcombe.
Double figures now and more would add to the fun, both on and off the water.

COURSE MAP - Check out the harbour Course Map in advance. We are likely to have a fun mix of windward leewards in and out of the tide, together with the odd scenic tour of the harbour too!
ACCOMMODATION - There are numerous B&Bs, Hotels and AirBnBs in Salcombe but it can be a sought after destination and availability may be limited.
CAMP & VANNING - If you are up for camping or campervanning there is a nice local site nearby at Higher Rew within an easy cycle ride; http://www.higherrew.co.uk/

Our cherished visit to Salcombe for the RS Aero UK South Western Champs is ON!
Salcombe Yacht Club are all set and looking forward to hosting the RS Aeros again.
If you combine the best features of the worlds iconic sailing harbours of Sydney Harbour and San Francisco Bay, with a dash of Sardinia's Porto Cervo into the mix you get Salcombe on the English Riviera. Funnelling breezes, awesome backdrops, challenging tides, south Devon's balmy micro climate and the potential for a mighty apres sail!
Every year Devon has an internet blip as at Salcombe's Merlin Week sells out with 120 entries in just 37 seconds and there is a reason for that. Championship courses in open water are one good test of racing skills. However, estuary sailing with the intrigue of tricky tides and swirling breezes under high headlands presents a whole new game of sailor cunning and intuition! The chances are that every one might get to lead at some point whilst we tide cheat along the shoreline, which then fuels the bar talk later too! The beautiful backdrop and lovely town makes for a weekend to remember at this magical Devonshire venue.
Launching & Parking: Batson Public Slipway at Creek Car Park
Schedule: 4 races, 2 each day back to back.
First Race: likely after 13:00 Saturday, TBC
Format: PY racing in one big RS Aero fleet
