Sail Sandy - Sandringham YC, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, 15/16 Oct
Congratulations
to Ron Fergusson on winning Sail Sandy in his RS Aero 9!

Thanks to Ron for his report;
That's me in 2915 Delphine, a trio of RS Aero 9s and one RS Aero 7 for the fifth and last race, second day of Sail Sandy 2022.
Couldn't grab much more vang and cunningham, really felt like I was hurting my sail, but I'm told it's fast for the conditions. Speed crease? With the boom bent low and loaded, tacking was like being back in the OK, get the head down and kiss the toes! And I got around the course much flatter and faster than I ever expected.

At 75 kg, the first three races this morning around 5-8 knots were at my ideal wind range for the RS Aero 9. Then the final race around 18-15, well, that was just hard on my limit, without being ridiculous. Oh, and Pete Milne in the RS Aero 7 just took off into the distance once the breeze was up. The RS Aeros were racing with the Contenders based on corrected time.

I really ought keep the RS Aero 9 for Lake sailing, but I did get away with it and have a good time!

Much better conditions on Sunday after light winds on Saturday. The current was unusual, caused by the flooding rivers (Maribyrnong & Yarra), and the water was dirty murky brown, with occasional debris, but ok.
