JUROR DEBRIEF - How to avoid those penalties!
by David Battye

At the recent RS Aero UK Inland Championships at Draycote we were fortunate to have our UK Class Juror, David Battye in attendance checking in with the fleet. David's presence helps promote fair and enjoyable racing and he does a great job in assisting to educate the Class as to the limits of the rules with good feedback and debriefs after racing. Here in his video debrief he explains his observations, decisions and how to best avoid risking those penalties in the future!

9 out of the 10 penalties given over the weekend were for downwind rocking in the light/medium breezes. We must also be mindful of start line sculling and racers should review the limitation at RRS42.2(d) and the exception at RRS42.3(d).

Further to the weekend David has updated his 'Rule 42 RS Aero Most Common Breaches' guidance document (V5) to refine the wording in the 'Downwind Rocking' section. Check it out together with all the other relevant links here; https://www.rsaerosailing.org/index.asp?p=news&nid=10864
