Flip the boat over (deck down) and carefully inspect the seam between the hull and deck on the gunwhale.  There is a glue line that can develop a small crack when/if the hull hits a dock or some other object.  When sailing upwind (sail sheeted hard and hiking out) the boat is loaded up and that crack can open and close as you go through waves (panting). Also look at the seam on the edges of the transom just below the gudgeons.

If you find a crack, my suggestion for the cracks on the sides is to use a dremel to grind out the old adhesive and replace it with West System G-Flex epoxy.  For cracks you may find in the transom seam, I inserted several wooden tooth picks to open up the gap and allowed epoxy to be inserted.  If you are not comfortable with this type of repair, check with your local RS Rep.  Good luck.

I have water in my Aero 9 ... cannot figure out why?  Small amount of water will drain from plug-hole at stern ... 2 - 3 cups only but incomplete emptying on account of stringers trapping water further towards bow.  I am unable to single-handedly stand boat up on its stern to release all water retained.  I cannot determine leak source.  Thought it might be mast hole.  Have checked entire hull and find no punctures or damage.  Is the leak internal?? - centre board jacket or mast holder / post or bottle holder?  Do other hulls in same production run report similar problem?  My hull is number 3581 - 3rd year of sailing and this month is the first time I can hear water sloshing around inside.  Suggestions anyone?

Hi Marcus !

I solved the same problem. 2 hours project with Sikaflex 291i. Just remove the black grills from both side and  use  the Sikaflex for 2x4 holes.

The small version is only 8,99 €

I haven't seen significant leaks for a number of years now. Keep working with RS on the issue as they are knowledgable and will sort you out - and I would not stress too much about a problem like this which is caught and solved quickly - the hull materials (foam / gel coat) aren't porous as far as I know.

Has anyone else had problems with their Aero leaking water into the hull around the water bottle holder?
Mine started taking on a lot of water at the weekend. This is the 2nd hull after the first one lasted less than a week before it developed the problem and had to be replaced by RS. The replacement hull is now doing the same thing and I suspect its going to be repaired rather than replaced but given i've now have a hull that has been full of water its not great.
Seems to be a design or batch fault.
