Hi Jonathan,
Congratulations on your new RS Aero and welcome to the Class!
Here are some additional items that you might consider;

1. I like my wind indicator so that I know the angle of the wind on the downwind run and the direction that both my and other boats' wind shadows are going.
2. A 750mm water bottle in the bottle holder deck mold is tall enough to hold the toe straps up a little higher like a tent pole with the addition of a bungee or plastic loop on top to retain it.
3. I rely on my Tacktick compass (and the RS Aero mount for it) whilst racing. A compass is factual info, without it you are trying to make a good guess. Even if you are sure the wind has shifted it is hard to quantify by exactly how much and therefore the relevant importance. It is also a safety aid for when the fog comes in and I know to sail north to get back to the south coast of England!
4. Deflecting the daggerboad retaining bungee so that it does not interfere with the kicker/vang cleat is nice. You can do that via the traveller attachments. See Class Rule C.6.1.3 (t)
5. A country flag (or two) on the mainsail adds a nice splash of colour (available from me at £5 + postage).
6. Check that you have an RS Aero sail number sticker on your trolley so that you might be fortunate enough to have your trolley brought to you after a sail (otherwise available from me at £4 + postage).
7. Consider various safety equipment depending on your experience and exposure. See TopTip2020 #48 - Stay Safer Sailing
8. Get your RS Aero Rooster Custom Kit so that you can look cool, comfortable, warm and dry both on the water and the shore!

Happy Sailing!

Hi,

I've just bought a used RS Aero with a 7 & 9 rigs from RS and collecting in a few weeks. I've bought the carbon tiller extension, halyard upgrade and JC strap to go with it. I'm going to taper the kicker myself but are there any other recommended upgrades?

Looking forward to getting the boat and getting to some events!

Jonathan
