I have measured mine and it is 160cm to include the plastic clips and is 6mm thick bungee (rigged to the rear kicker tang). You can use up to 8mm bungee.

I suggest you initially cut it long and reduce after trying it out. It is not vital but it is useful for overcoming mainsheet friction and holding the boom out in less than about 8kn, so particularly useful for those who prefer thicker mainsheets. Also it is more useful in flukey sheltered venues where there may be many light wind transitions.

You should only attach it immediately before launching as the sail is more inclined to catch the wind ashore with it attached and pulling the boom off the centre line. Also once launched it pulls the boom out to one side and will make the boat less stable if you are trying to move your trolley up the shore single handed.

Hi All,

Could anyone please confirm the length and size of the bungee for a JC Strap? I think I read somewhere that it's 1.6m of 6mm bungee but I can't find it again. And that sounds a little short - particularly if you need to create a couple of bowlines in it for the hooks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.
