There is a standard righting line kit available for the RS Aero, see here;
Should be very easy to fit.

Cathy trialled them successfully at Chew VLSC in the icy water of Jan 2015. They hang down beneath the gunwale but above the water and are easier to reach than the control line tails and gunwale. Also easier to pull on as they have knots and thicker diameter.
See video and explanation 3rd down on the Capsize Corner forum thread.
Lots of other capsize top tips on that thread.

Many thanks, I've ordered the righting line kit. Hope it's easy to fit.

RS supplies a righting line for the Aero, it's about £25.  I'm short 'n bulky(?) and whilst I can't reach the gunnel, the righting line works well for me.

I also find it difficult to reach the main sheet when getting in over the side, and invariably get in over the rear. BUT!! you have to get in the upwind side of the transom, AND, if your endeavors, (albeit accidentally), place your weight on the tiller, it will snap clean off!  I've found that the knack, is to first push the stern down with straight arms, then, slither your way in.  It's not elegant, not unlike you would imagine a seal doing it, but I'm 69, and all I care about, is getting back in the race!  On second thoughts, an old Walrus is probably nearer it !!!

There is a standard option for righting lines. Look on the RS site.

Rooster has just finished developing Dynema Shockcord.  Not yet finalised the video yet - but you can use it as a righting line.  It has a very high break load.  Simples.  :)

I am finding it very difficult to right the boat after a capsize without easy access to the main sheet which is usually trailing in the water on the lower side. Has anyone any ideas? Other dinghys use righting lines. Has anyone got any suggestions for doing this? One way might be to drill two holes in each gunwale and feed a rope through underneath, but the holes will need sealing somehow. Another way might be to tie a rope at the top of the centre board and clip it up under each gunwale. Any ideas?
