Home >> Transport & Storage >> Launching Trolley Wear Issue
I had the same problem. I have sawn off the worn out tubes and replaced them with solid aluminium bar bolted to the frame. Also, when I did the repair I replaced all of the nuts & bolts with stainless equivalents. I now have a trolley that should outlast me!

I sail at Balmoral SC in Sydney Aus. Golden sandy beach. My right axle was worn through. I found an aluminium section at a specialist aluminium store  that matched the existing axle and another that fitted perfectly inside. So I hack sawed off the worn bit, inserted the smaller one and then slid the replacement over that. The only hitch was the welding distorted the inside of the existing section and I had about 20 minutes of filing before the inside section would go in.  Its only a week old now, need to see how well the internal section holds, will it be strong enough not to bend.

I don’t know if they’re stocked in the UK. I got them sent to Australia from US with no problems and really prompt delivery. There isn’t apart number for the dolly frame member that includes the stub axles but it’d be worth contacting RS to try and get a replacement rather than have to buy a whole new dolly. RS pride themselves on their sustainability so should be more than happy to supply a replacement. Then, problem solved.

Thanks for this. Are they available in the UK?
I need to find a way to repair/replace the trolley axles first. If this is not possible I would consider one of their trolleys, though I would have to find out if it would fit on my road base. From the pictures this looks doubtful.

I’ve replaced the standard wheels with ones from Dynamic Dollies. They fit straight onto the Aero dolly and have Delfin bearings which make it really easy to pull (we have a soft sand beach between the club and the water) and minimises the wear on the axle.

I took the wheels off my September 2016 launching trolley to find the underside of the stub axles completely worn through the metal and in imminent danger of breaking off. I believe this has been mentioned previously but I couldn't find the thread. Has anyone, in particular the RS tech guys, come up with a fix without having to replace the whole trolley which is otherwise sound?
