Time on the Water
by Pete Conway, GBR

Pete Conway is certainly one of our most senior RS Aero sailors at four score years plus a few and one of our wisest too! When Pete talks it is good to listen. He had already won The Bloody Mary and Moth UK Nationals before many current RS Aero sailors were born! Pete can be found on the water off Lymington most days and added an RS Aero to his fleet last year. He recommends that there is no substitute for time spent on the water to hone in your sailing skills!

' Time on the Water

I have had the boat for only 6 months so my experience of RS Aero racing is somewhat sparse. When I've won the Worlds a few times I'll be back in touch!

Meanwhile, a childhood hero racing cyclist, Fausto Coppi (5 Tour de France wins) said "Ride a bicycle, ride a bicycle, ride a bicycle " in order to improve. Substitute RS Aero for bicycle and you have; "Sail an RS Aero, sail an RS Aero, sail an RS Aero" - but then I've not yet won the Tour either!

If you want to improve your sailing then time on the water spent having fun, experimenting and practice racing is key.
Cheers, Pete Conway '

...and importantly, in case you are wondering, Pete's top tip to remaining youthful is to keep active. Once you stop, you grow old!
