Quick Recovery
Emily Davis, GBR

Emily Davis has completed 5 seasons in the RS Aero now and deserves a medal for her resilience! Here she offers a top tip as a smaller sailor for speed and ease after a windward sploosh...

' A Quick Recovery from Windward Capsizes
Here is my top tip re capsizing to windward; if the water is deep enough pull the boat over on top of you to turtle it so it’s easier to climb back on and then right quickly from the upwind side; much quicker than trying to point into the wind or doing a San Franscisco roll (Eskimo Roll). Also this has the added advantage of not having to pull yourself back into the boat from the water, you can just step in of the dagger board!
Hope this is of use, having capsized often enough I’m quite good at it now!
