I'm told that taking the main sheet out of the blocks and letting the sail & boom fly forward does the trick when beaching.

I only weigh just under 160 - sail 9 in the summer 7 in the winter as a rule, have sailed the 7 in huge winds - key to upwind is lots of kicker, even more lots of downhaul. In survival conditions (above 30 mph) plate up about 5 inches and outhaul a bit tighter. When I say lots of kicker I mean that seriously - I can't pull it hard enough without using some mainsheet tension to help. If the wind drops though you must 'change gear' to get power back. That applies more for me with the 9 rig in 10-20 mph when I'm starting to be overpowered and de-power the rig but then get a lull and must re-power by easing downhaul and then kicker or the boat goes very slowly and feels dead.

Had a fun week learning the Aero 7... I'm using the Musto knee pads and loving them. Thanks Neil. I also replaced the tiller extension with a non-stock one from my local Aero dealer. The RS extension is still out of stock and would cost a fortune to ship.

It was blowing 20+ knots and got the hang of the new extension. It is a lot more work to sail a RS Aero in those conditions compared to my windsurfer... stomach muscles are still hurting.

I lost my fancy RS water bottle at some point that day when totally capsized. :( It went to visit my lost extension... and then magically reappeared on the beach a day later, about 200 feet from where I launched! Apparently the lake gods rejected the plastic after getting a nice carbon fiber extension. ;)

I weigh 170 lbs and struggle to close haul in high winds. Even with all of the tricks... there is too much sail for me to counter. I need scuba weights. Or reefing points.

Loving the boat. It will take some time and a gym to master.

Returning to the beach is hard with a onshore blow. Any tips are appreciated... I haven't damaged my carbon edge yet, but pulling the centre board and smoothly landing has been less than smooth so far.
