YODARE ISLAND ADVENTURE

Ken has been busy these past two months clocking up numerous islands off the coast from Essex to Cornwall and is now well on the way to his overall goal.

Check out Ken's video of his wonderful sailing across Mounts Bay. Ken reports;
"Wild adventure sailing in Mounts Bay as Yodare takes on a Force 6-7 and BIG waves. Epic dinghy sailing at its best. Raising money for Cancer Research and Oakhaven Hospice. Follow the adventure at https://yodare.co.uk/ and @goyodare on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter. Music is Visions."

Nice save by Ken at 0:15 !

YODARE ISLAND ADVENTURE

YODARE is an epic sailing challenge to become the first ever single handed dinghy to sail around ALL the islands of England and Wales. That’s a grand total of 183 islands and over 1200 miles of sailing, all in an RS Aero!

The aim is to raise around £13,000 for Cancer Research and Oakhaven Hospice, two life changing charities for so many people facing the challenge that is CANCER.

Ken Fowler is a 53 year old air traffic controller who lives in Mudeford, Dorset, UK. He loves sailing and adventure. His RS Aero, is named 'Yoda', which came from his last adventure – “Race To Scotland” when he ran a competition to name the boat. YODA was the winning name as it reflected the ability of something so small to achieve something really amazing. YODA was true to it’s name and sailed a staggering 865 miles from Lands End to the top of Scotland – only finishing 45 miles short of John O Groats when the weather prevented any further sailing.

Unfinished Business
“Race To Scotland” was an incredible journey and a personal emotional roller coaster. It managed to raise a jaw dropping £37,015.65 for Cancer Research and Oakhaven Hospice, thanks to the generosity of so many friends, family, fellow sailors and complete strangers who he met during the trip.

Although that amount itself was a great achievement, it was £12,984.35 short of the £50,000 he was trying to raise (the target came from the sad fact that 50% of us will get Cancer). Yodare is all about raising that final £12,984.35.
