On 21st June, 4 out of Frankfurt's 5 RS Aeros at Dreieich Segel Club Langen (DSCL) made it out for the first event of a series of three races to determine the champion of Frankfurt & Hessen. All four RS Aeros used the RS Aero 9 rig.Norbert reports;
"Weather was fine (grey day, clouds, rain but wind around 3bft, sometimes a little more). We had a fleet of about 30 different boats sailing under yardstick rules, 4 of our 5 RS Aeros started. Before the event, the racing committee did a mathematical correlation between the British 4-digit system and the German 3-digit system, comparing Finn and Laser numbers and then integrating the RS Aero. The first result was encouraging with the RS Aeros scoring positions 1, 2, 3 and 9. We will sail the series using this yardstick and we will see whether we just had a real good day or the numbers were a little too much in our favour."
It will be interesting to see where their handicap number settles in due course.
With other RS Aeros located nearby they are already planning a local RS Aero Regatta on their lake and signs are positive!
