WORLDS PRACTICE RACE First attempt was abandoned on the first lap as the wind died. Marc Jacobi USA and Madhaven Thurmali where leading the 9s. Vladimir Ivanovski RUS and Sarah Cockerill GBR 'Rooster' were leading the 7s. New breeze quickly arrived from the west with vengeance! Unfortunately the 9s had sailed home but a group of 7 and 5s had a race in about 18 knots and an increasing sea state. The 5s stopped early after 1 lap, saving themselves for the main event whilst the 7s completed a triangle-sausage enjoying blast reaching and an exciting run. 1 Peter Barton (2 Marcus Walther GER - DNF due to superstition!) 2 Steve Norbury 'Selden' 3 John Warburton 4 Chris Jones 5 James Clapham A welcoming Opening Ceremony followed with buffet, speeches, 16 flag ceremony and prizes.

RON ABUELO RUM COCKTAIL PARTY - Friday 28th
SAILORS LOVE RUM!

Which is why the RS Aero Class is extremely excited to partner with Ron Abuelo at the Rooster RS Aero World Champs in Carnac.

Ron Abuelo are a premium rum brand of Panama and their operation in France are ramping up on an impressive scale to join us on the Friday, our final day, to produce a Rum Cocktail Party straight after the Grand Awards Ceremony.

RON ABUELO's top cocktail designers worldwide are creating a nautical recipe just for the RS Aero Class - with a twist of the Ocean!

Many thanks to our Panama RS Aero competitor, Guillermo Gasperi, for the introduction!

SUMMARY of RON ABUELO:
These remarkable rums are created at the hands of the expert distillers at the Hacienda San Isidro, a family-owned company, which dates back to 1908, when Don Jose Varela established in the town of Pese the first sugar mill in the recently-formed Republic of Panama. With their dedication to quality and taste, an historic spirit becomes the choice for those who can only be satisfied with the very best life has to offer.

Strict quality control is maintained at the distillery by sophisticated laboratory equipment, while trained tasting panelists continuously supervise the aroma and taste profile to ensure consistency among each of the Ron Abuelo marques: Anejo, 7 Anos, 12 Anos, XV Napoleon, XV Tawny, XV Oloroso and Centuria. Each of the members of the Ron Abuelo family offers a different experience, a unique personality and character. All express the family’s passion to produce the very best aged rum.

WORLDS - BOAT INSURANCE
As stated in the Notice of Race, boat insurance documents MUST be produced to YCC for every foreign boat before they can race at the Worlds, showing 1.5 million Euro third party liability insurance cover.
RS has this document for the RS owned charter fleet.

To ensure you meet this requirement I suggest everyone does each of three things;

1) send a copy by email to YCC in advance. This could be a photo or PDF.
Head your email; 'RS Aero Insurance-Name-SailNumber'
2) take a photo of the document with you phone now.
3) bring a paper copy to Carnac. Put it with your travel documents now!

French competitors shall present their 'FFVoile licence 2017' instead.

Additionally, minors under 18 years will require a signed Parent/Guardian consent form, available to download on-line from YCC.

ENTRY
Great to see 87 entries at the end of the early entry discount period. The online entry remains open, just a little more expensive now.
If you are still getting organised, please do try to enter by the 14th July as after that is more expensive again and the entry is at the discretion of YCC, depending on their late ability to resource.

COUNTRY SAIL FLAGS
for RS Aero main sails

These are optional at the worlds and will add a nice bit of colour.

Ben Rolfe has organised dacron compatible national flags at £10 each or 12 Euro and can do any country flag. They go just under the country sail letters on the port side, as per the diagram in the class rules.

All orders need to be in and paid for by the 5th of July to be in time for the World Championship. Contact Ben to order.
They can be either delivered to the World Champs or posted at cost.

Payment details are the same as for the online entry, charters and polo shirts. Please reference payments 'SurnameNatFlag'. If you are paying for several items together, it is best that you email Me to confirm the payment and what it is for!

NATIONAL LETTERS and correct SAIL NUMBERS
will be required by competitors at the World Championships. Please check Class Rules C.10.4 (a) (ii), (iii) and (v) and the diagram in Annex C. http://www.rsaerosailing.org/docs/599836386.pdf
All charter RS Aeros will be supplied with sail numbers and the charterer's national letters code.
You can order via RS for delivery to Carnac. With a set of 'digital 8s', like the sail numbers, you will be able to make the letters. http://www.rssailing.com/en

There will be no requirement for National Flags on mainsails at this event (It is only ever a requirement if the NoR or SIs stipulate).

WORLDS ENTRIES are rolling up to the big 80!
Many thanks to new entry from Holland, Gerard Vos, who had the nice idea to add the categories to the Entry List which adds interest. Our genius Webmaster managed to add it in easily.

Great to see 13 Ladies already and a nice entry of 20 Masters (55yrs and over).
Just 6 Youth (U19yrs) so far, but we are clashing with the Fevas. At next year's Worlds in Weymouth we may achieve more Youth by Feva sailors joining us and by sharing date and venue with the Teras we may have Tera sailor siblings join us, like in 2015.

REMEMBER - Please pay your Entries and Charter Fees by the 30th June deadline - and don't forget your Worlds Polo Shirt at the same time!
Paypal payments via this link (please add 3% to cover their fees).
Bank details for transfers were on your entry confirmation email, otherwise ask Me.

UK TRANSPORT
Is anyone interested in sharing the cost of taking a large trailer out from the UK with multiple boats?
I'm heading out either Fri/Sat before and returning on the Sunday after. Departing/Returning from Reading.
Depending on interest cost would be about £100, although if people were happy to stack boats then this could be reduced.
There would also be space in the van for some kit.
NB this is not a commercial operation and is just a cost share, each person would need to ensure that their boat is adequately insured.
