Mine fell off my firstboat 1060 within a few weeks of getting it.
Since there was no effect on performance I just left them off and put them back on when I changed the boat. the looked like they had just been stuck on with a couple of dabs of silicone or adhesive.

Thanks all for the tips. I'll be fixing it initially with double sided tape but if that doesn't last I might try the contact adhesive approach Tim

Hi Tim,
I've had both mine come off:
1'st march 2016, when boat 17 months old,
2nd March 2017.
A good contact adhesive properly applied seems to work well.
With that kind of adhesive it has to be smeared completely over both faces to be joined, left for the stated period to cure, before pressing together.
The impression I got with both is that this hadn't been followed to the letter at build or fit-out; old glue didn't cover the whole joint.
Have used contact adhesive for catamaran centre board gaskets, and found it holds fine, the gaskets wearing out before the adhesive fails.  Nail varnish remover Acetone used in moderation good for removal.

Hi Tim. Whatever you do, make sure you can get to screws. Mine have worked loose, today epoxied the holes, put larger screws in to hope they hold. Personally I'm leaving the covers off until I know they are fixed properly, then with Russel's idea. M 1744

I had to take one off because one of the screws had worked a bit loose. I scraped the old glue off and stuck it back on with some silicon sealant.  Like you I didn't want it to be stuck so that I couldn't get it off again and I wanted the glue to be waterproof.

Today I found one of the grab rail inserts inside the boat and the other was coming off. The boat's had a summer and winter season ~9mo. of use It's trivial to repair and the consensus at the club is to use double sided tape of some sort. The original looks like an epoxy or evostick type arrangement but perhaps it's not very waterproof. The downside of gluing them on more firmly is the possibility that the grab rails eventually work a bit loose and you want to tighten the stainless screws that hold them to the hull. ##update 20/7/2017 tape starting to fail... I'm probably going the double sided tape route but seek opinions? Tim
